In an answer (Dutch, PDF) to questions asked by political party ‘GroenLinks’, Dutch minister Ronald Plasterk refuses to pay software licenses for the Netherlands Antilles.
In his answer, the Dutch Minister states that the Governement of the Netherlands Antilles tries to remedy the use of illegal software in the Netherlands Antilles but that according to Dutch policy, Open Source software is preferred above proprietary software and that the Netherlands will not pay for licenses.
The Minister states that the Governement of the Netherlands Antilles is researching the use of Open Source software in education.
