Training: Department of Finance gets trained in Linux

The System Administrator of the Department of Finance of the Netherlands Antilles followed a 7 day Linux Training, provided by a local company. In 7 days, the SA learned about the history of Linux, GNU, Free Software and Open Source. When the training was completed, the SA could independently install the Operating System (Ubuntu or CentOS), and configure it to be a fileserver using Samba. According to the SA he could ‘find his way in the myriad of documentation on the Internet and apply knowledge to new areas. My dependence on outside consultants has dramatically decreased. I still need to consult an expert sometimes, but the majority of my problems I can solve just by searching the on-line documentation and forums, and the manual pages provided by the GNU/Linux operating system’.
